From December 19 to January 10, a series of activities will be organized to bring astronomy closer to adults and children. In addition, on January 3, a Christmas market will be inaugurated with local producers, the visit of the Royal Pageant and the performance of the musical group Rabadàb, with a concert of carols with Jamaican rhythms.
The Parc Astronòmic del Montsec is organizing for the second time Christmas at the Astronòmic, a special program of activities with the aim of promoting and bringing astronomy closer to adults and children. The Astronòmic presents an experience with magic, live music and different astronomical activities to enjoy a unique perspective of the starry sky of Montsec.
This year’s edition will feature magic sessions, immersive cinema, observation, planetariums, live concerts and photographic exhibitions. This Christmas program offers a complete and immersive experience for all visitors who want to enjoy an unusual environment and an international benchmark in the field of astronomy and dark sky protection.

The Magic of Christmas
From December 19 to January 10, the Astronomical will offer the daytime experience The Magic of Christmas, aimed at children up to twelve years old. This experience consists of a Planetarium session at the Ull del Montsec where the immersive film “The Christmas Star” will be screened and a workshop on the magic of optics will be held. This workshop explores the effects of polarization using polarized sheets and various transparent layers made of cellophane to create drawings that will change color depending on the angle of observation.

This activity, lasting 1 hour and 30 minutes, is ideal for audiences of children up to 12 years old. The price is €10 for the general rate and €9 for the reduced rate, with free entry for children under 5 years old.
Winter Sky Observation
From December 19 to January 10, the Astronòmic will offer the nighttime activity Winter Sky, in which visitors will delve into the magic of the sky while discovering the wonders of the cosmos through a complete immersion in the universe. This experience includes a special live planetarium session at the Ull del Montsec, a planetarium with a 12-meter diameter dome, and a visit to the Parc de Telescopis to observe planets, stars and galaxies with the help of the Park’s experts.

This 2-hour activity is ideal for all ages and offers an unforgettable opportunity to connect with the vastness of the night sky. The price is €17 for the general rate and €15 for the reduced rate, with free entry for children under 5 years old.
The Christmas Star
From December 19 to January 10, the Astronòmic will offer the activity Christmas Star, in which visitors will enjoy a live planetarium session and a night session in the Parc de Telescopis. This immersive show starts from the question “what could be the Christmas Star that the Three Wise Men followed?”.

This activity, lasting 1 hour and 30 minutes, is ideal for all audiences. The price is €17.50 for the general rate and €15.50 for the reduced rate, with free entry for children under 5 years old.
Photographic exhibitions and live music
From 19 to 10 January, the temporary exhibition hall will host the exhibition of night and astronomical photography by David Rius and the Badalona Photographic Club. On Saturday 20 December, at the night experiences at 6pm, 7pm and 8pm, there will be an explanation and a visit to this exhibition.
On 3 January, visitors will have the opportunity to listen live to the Lleida musical band Rabadàb, who will dance Christmas carols with Jamaican rhythms through the most popular songs from the traditional songbook. There will be two sessions, at 6pm and 7pm, and the price is €20.

Visitors will also be able to visit a Christmas Market with stalls from local producers, crafts and unique proposals for these holidays. It is a free activity and the hours are from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
