The film can be viewed in Catalan, Spanish, and English during the PAM’s general 2D evening screenings, as well as at 30 planetariums in Spain and Portugal.
The Montsec Astronomy Park takes another step forward in its mission to educate the public about the great phenomena of the universe with the premiere of “3CLIPSE”. This new initiative, which combines an exhibition with an immersive projection, has been designed to explain—in an accessible and visually spectacular way—an exceptional astronomical phenomenon: the three-year series of solar eclipses that we will experience in 2026, 2027, and 2028.

The premiere of this film comes at a pivotal moment. With the total solar eclipse on August 12 on the horizon, “3CLIPSE” was created with the aim of educating visitors and preparing them for this event, offering bite-sized pieces of information and a unique sensory experience that helps them understand the magnitude of what we are about to experience.

This project reaffirms the role of the Astronomical Park as Catalonia’s most important astronomy facility.
Through this experience, visitors will not only learn about the technical details of the main types of eclipses, their geometry, and associated phenomena—from the Saros cycle to the solar corona—in an accessible and educational way, but they will also be immersed in a story that explains, in an easy-to-understand and visually spectacular way, through a conversation between a grandmother and her granddaughter, the three-year cycle of eclipses that will take place in the coming years.
In addition, the 3CLIPSE exhibition opened this June in the temporary exhibition hall at the Montsec Astronomical Park. The exhibition, which accompanies the 3CLIPSE planetarium film, helps visitors understand what solar eclipses are and why three exceptional events will be visible from the Iberian Peninsula between 2026 and 2028.
We invite you to discover this new gem in our program and to start the countdown to the great eclipse in August with us. The film is now part of the center’s daytime activities, where learning and excitement come together under the best sky in the area.
