Yesterday, the 4th Noguera Regional Prize for Baccalaureate research projects took place, an initiative organized by the Pedagogical Resources Center of the Noguera Educational Service, which aims to promote the investigative spirit, documentary rigor and scientific creativity of the 2nd year Baccalaureate students of the region.
As part of the event, the conference “Light pollution, the dark side of light” took place, which was given by Salvador Ribas Rubio, director of the Parc Astronòmic del Montsec.
Light pollution is considered one of the most important and unknown sources of environmental pollution in recent times, since it not only prevents nighttime observation of the cosmos, but also alters the balance of ecosystems, affecting the life of species, including humans.
With this participation, the Parc Astronòmic del Montsec consolidates its role as a space for scientific dissemination to young people, while reinforcing the desire to build the region, bringing the culture of research closer to the different municipalities of the territory.
The competition was sponsored by the Noguera County Council and the Bellcaire d’Urgell City Council, and supported by the Balaguer City Council, the Ponts and Artesa de Segre City Councils, and the Noguera Learning Camp.
