The highlight has been the “Mosaics of Light” workshops, one of the new features of this season, as well as the full attendance achieved in the night visits on the last three public holidays (Friday, Saturday and Sunday).
Although Easter began with warnings of strong winds, the second part of this festival has improved the weather and the PAM has reached 2,150 visitors, selling out tickets for all its sessions.
Friday, Saturday and Sunday have been full in the night sessions, with reservations sold out a week in advance, as well as in the daytime visits, where this year the outreach work carried out by the Astronomical is closely linked to explaining the peculiarities of the total solar eclipse that will be visible from Catalonia on August 12th as well as all the prevention measures that must be taken into account to observe this phenomenon safely.

These days, 4 daily sessions of night visits have been held, which have included a visit to the planetarium and the observation of the night sky in one of the best places in Catalonia for its observation, Montsec.
As for the 4 daily sessions of daytime visits, an astronomical experience guided by an astronomer has been offered in which a film has been projected at the Planetarium “Ull del Montsec”, followed by a simulation of the sky and a journey through the universe, learning about the most interesting aspects of the firmament. In a second part, the Parc de Telescopis has been visited, where interesting aspects of the Sun have been explained and it has been observed live with solar telescopes.
The other activity that has also attracted a large audience has been the “Mosaics of Light” workshop, a family activity created on the occasion of the Gaudí Year where polarized sheets are used to create dynamic mosaics and stained glass windows that change depending on the light and orientation. Inspired by Gaudí’s “trencadís”, the people who participate play with color, symmetry and texture while discovering optical concepts in a fun and creative way.
