The Montsec Astronomical Park (PAM) and the Ebro Observatory have formalized an unprecedented strategic partnership to lead public outreach efforts for the total solar eclipse on August 12, 2026. This collaboration brings together the scientific expertise of a center founded in 1904 with the PAM’s leadership as an international leader in the dissemination of space science, creating a unique hub of knowledge for the public.

From August 10 to 13, the Observatory’s Roquetes campus will become the epicenter of a program of activities that will blend art, science, and experimentation. Visitors will be able to enjoy:
-Informative lectures and family workshops with leading researchers.
-Solar observations and gathering spaces to inspire scientific careers.
-Joint livestream: On August 12, a live broadcast will be held to bring this exceptional phenomenon to audiences around the world in real time.
This initiative is part of the interdepartmental plan “Catalonia looks to the sky,” led by the Catalan Government to ensure a safe and enriching experience. As highlighted by the president of Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat de Catalunya (FGC), Carles Ruiz, this collaboration allows the PAM (Patagonian Meteorological Program) to enhance its international reach and transform a natural phenomenon into a rigorous and shared educational experience.
Beyond Roquetes, the Montsec Astronomical Park reaffirms its commitment to territorial development by offering scientific support in other key locations:
-Lleida (Magraners): PAM technicians will offer informational sessions and support for safe observation.
-Les Borges Blanques: Scientific collaboration at their observation site.
-Education: The Astronomical Park’s entire 2026 program is already geared towards preparing the public for this historic moment through special sessions in the planetarium.
The eclipse on August 12 will be a unique opportunity to inspire society and place Catalonia on the map of global astronomical excellence.
